Gary Forlini

Gary began his career in the secondary and college classroom before founding Research in Media to test and develop research-based, practical professional materials for teachers, administrators and students. In recent years, he created ObserverTab and GoalTab to simplify the collection of data to drive formative and summative teacher growth and inform personalized professional learning. His educational publications include Help Teachers Engage Students, Class Acts, Grand Designs, Communication in Action (Pearson), Grammar and Composition (Prentice Hall) and SAT Home Study.

Annette Brinkman

Utah’s first Early Childhood Specialist, becan her career in the classroom and then in school administration as an elementary principal in Alpine School District, Associate Director in the Teaching and Learning Department of Utah’s Granite School District, and serving in site-based staff development postitions in a variety of school districts. Annette personally conducts both virtual and in person training of administrators to assist new and struggling teachers as well as coaches and mentors. She is a frequently requested speaker at national conferences and is co-author of Class Acts, Grand Designs, and Help Teachers Engage Students.

Ellen Williams

University professor and co-director of BYU’s Leadership Preparation Program and Principals Academy, Ellen began as a classroom teacher then served as an elementary principal and district administrator before moving on to her work at the university and consulting. Her work forcused on assessing the culture of professional elarning communities and instructional leadership. She has published in scholarly journals such as Mentoring and Tutoring, UCEA Journal of Case Studies, The Researcher, and the International Journal of Leadership in Education.

Paul Shepherd

Paul brings his experience as an elementary teacher, district curriculum specialist, elementary principal, school administrator, and district level director in one of Utah’s largest districts, Granite School District, to lead ObserverTab’s program development as well as support teachers professional learning and coaching for administrators. His service as a member of the Public Education Standing Committee and Higher Education Appropriations Committee in the Utah State Legislature served to broaden his understanding of professional learning from all stakeholders and provide insights to support facilitation of teacher growth and consultation with administrators for effective school management, or to set clear learning expectations with data to drive performance in today’s hybrid learning.
